What Child Is This – Greensleeves Guitar Lesson

Well, Christmas is just a few days away so I thought it would be cool to show you guys another nice solo Christmas arrangement.

This one if for the popular "What Child Is This" or you may know it instrumentally as "Greensleeves". Either way, it has become a Christmas classic due to it hauntingly beautiful melodies.

This arrangement is for simple fingerstyle guitar and is at a level that can be played by just about any guitarists except the total beginner.

The great thing about the piece is that is doesn't require these complex harmonizations to sound great. The melody itself stand on it's own so well that a simple harmonic accompaniment is all that is needed.

Hopefully you will "Grab The TAB" below and follow along with the video lesson to see my fingerings so you can learn the entire tune in just a few minutes.

So nothing to tricky here, just make sure you let the melody sing in a nice and connected sound. Also, be sure to sustain those bass notes underneath the melody notes. If you lift off of the bass notes too soon you will lose the harmonic effect of the arrangement.

OK that is about it from me. Happy Holidays everyone!!

I prefer notes to tablature because they’re what I am used. I really struggle with tabs. But, it is good practice for me to transcribe a song into notes.
