Artic Monkeys – Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High Guitar Lesson

In this Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this hit by the Artic Monkeys in it's entirety.

As with a lot of Artic Monkeys' songs, it contains tons of layered guitar riffs that seem to constantly move around. The guitar parts in this song contain a lot of muted riffs combined with delay drenched guitar slides.

There is also a short slapback delay added to the muted clean tone riffs. I am using a delay that is about 200ms in the video lesson.

The main riff doubles the bass line. That riff is used in the intro and throughout the verse and chorus.

During the chorus there is an additional muted guitar riff played on top of the main riff. As the song continues there are more guitar parts added to the sound. Everything builds up dynamically as the song moves along.

I will do my best to break down all of these guitar layers so that you can choose which ones to play to sound the closest to the original recording when having only one or two guitars available.

Good Luck!
