Don’t Speak Guitar Lesson – No Doubt

In this Don't Speak guitar lesson video, I will show you all of the guitar parts for this smash hit by No Doubt. Including the acoustic guitar solo!

No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont definitely knows his way around the fretboard. In "Don't Speak" he uses techniques including fingerpicking, palm muting, ska style strumming patterns, alternate picking and even some sweep picking.

"Don't Speak" is a great all-around song to learn for the intermediate level guitarist due to the variety of techniques Tom Dumont employs.

I will star the lesson with that very recognizable fingerpickied chord progression. I will also demonstrate ways that you can still hold your pick while doing the fingerpicking so you can quickly jump into the strummed sections of the song.

I will take you through each section of the song in the order that it appears and show you all the chords and techniques used.

At the end of the lesson I will grab an acoustic guitar and show you how to play the guitar solo.

Tom Dumont's guitar solo fits this pop song extremely well while still showcasing some pretty high level guitar chops. You will find some sweep picked arpeggios, alternate picking sequences and more.

I will break the solo down into phrases that should be pretty easy for you to comprehend, so hopefully you will have it under your finger quickly. It is very fun to play once you do. 🙂

I hope you guys enjoy learning this fun song from No Doubt!
