Epic Guitar Solo Lesson – Faith No More – Famous Solos

In this "famous solos" lesson we are going to take a look at the guitar solo for "Epic" by Faith No More.

Faith No More has always been one of the most original sounding and inspiring bands of the late 80's and early 90's for me.

Their big break through hit was "Epic" and it contained one of the most unique guitar solos I had ever heard. In this Epic guitar solo lesson I will show you how to play that entire solo note-for-note.

Keep in mind that there is a lot of harmonized guitar stuff going on in this solo. One of the most important harmony guitar parts is towards the beginning of the solo when guitarist Jim Martin is setting up the main solo section with a series of ascending octaves.

The harmony guitar parts that are over those octaves were just too important to the overall sound for me to ignore so I put them together with the original octaves in an attempt to play both guitar parts as one.

After that, any harmonized lines that happen in the solo are ignored and I just concentrate on the main line of the solo. Kinda like what guitarist Jim Martin would play live.

The guitar solo for "Epic" is one of my favorite solos of the era. It's not very flashy but contains a lot of very melodic and cool licks. Without a doubt it would be well worth the effort for any guitar player to take a look at it.
