I Wanna Rock Guitar Lesson – Twisted Sister

In this I Wanna Rock guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this hard rock classic from Twisted Sister note-for-note, including the solo! We will be using standard tuning just like the original recording.

For the entire song, all of the rhythm guitar parts use simple power chords. It is the timing of these chords that will be the biggest challenge.

The opening riff of "I Wanna Rock" is also the chorus. It is very catchy and fun to play, but the rhythmic starts and stops will require you to have a good grasp of what the original song sounds like in order to easily follow along.

The verse uses a lot of the same chords albeit in a more retrained fashion so it should be much of a problem.

For the pre-chorus you will have to do some left hand muting to make the chords sound right. I will demonstrate how that is done in the video lesson just in case you happen to be unfamiliar with that technique. Also, at the very end of the pre-chorus you will need to hit a couple of chords on the upbeat. It is best to use an upstroke for those.

The bridge is the final rhythm guitar part and requires strict timing as well.

After all of that we finally make it to the guitar solo. There are lots of bends and fast blues based licks in this solo so take your time with it.

I suggest learning the solo phrase-by-phrase, just like I teach it in the video lesson. Have fun!
