I Wish it Would Rain Down Guitar Lesson – Phil Collins

In this I Wish it Would Rain Down guitar lesson series, I will show you how to play not only the guitar chords for this beautiful song, but both of Eric Clapton's incredible guitar solos as well.

You will need to tune your guitar down one-half step to Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb in order to follow along with this lesson and the original recording.

Phil Collins has said that he felt that "I Wish It Would Rain Down" was the closest he had ever come to writing a blues song. Because of that, he wanted his friend Eric Clapton to play on it. Clapton obliged, and the result was some of Eric Clapton's most inspired guitar work.

In the first video lesson, I will show you how to play one of my favorite parts of the song, Clapton's gorgeous intro solo. It just seems to soar over the music and is a prefect introduction to the feel of the song.

After that, I will show you the guitar chords for all parts of the song including the verse, chorus and bridge sections. These chords are pretty simple for even the beginner level player, so only the solos will be the part of the song you will need to worry about.

In the second video lesson I will tackle Eric Clapton's longer solo that occurs over the outro chorus. There are just too many soulful moments to mention them all so I suggest just listening to the original track a few times to get the sound of it in your head, then follow along with the video lessons and learn it phrase-by-phrase just like I teach it.

Enjoy! Carl...

No I haven’t done that. Not really enough reaction from the first video to make it worth it I think. 🙁

Hi, I saw the intro solo and I need the rest of the solos during the whole song. I don´t have time and ability to listen and take it by ear. Because of this I subscribed. You have here just the same you have on Youtube for free?

Hey Mauricio, all of the song lessons are completely free for everyone.

The Premium subscription gives you access to all of my guitar courses in the Premium section.

Most of the song lessons on the site are complete. I would say probably 95%. The ones that aren’t complete just yet happen due to lake of general interest in it. If a video didn’t get many views to begin with it is hard for me to spend time completing the transcription when very few people will watch.
