Hybrid Picking Pt.1
This lesson is our first focusing on hybrid picking on the guitar. Hybrid picking is just the ability to use your pick as well as pick hand fingers together.
Becoming proficient at hybrid picking can really open up the door to a lot of sounds that just aren't possible by just using a pick alone.
For those who have never done any finger picking at all, make sure you pay close attention to how the right hand fingers pluck the strings as well as the position of the picking hand wrist. The players who are the most observant are usually the best players, so attention to detail is crucial here. But have fun of course.. 🙂
Also, the chromatic octave exercise in the video makes a fantastic independence exercise for the fret hand, but take your time learning the fingerings.

Great lesson! Was looking for something to help me with this. My ultimate goal is to play Cliffs of Dover, but need to get a little better with some of the techniques before tackling the song.
Hi, As always another GREAT lesson. I am VERY interested in hybrid picking. My problem is keeping the pick stationary in my hand. I have to keep re-adjusting its position and this slows me down. Do you have any advice for this. I like a standard pick as I can go straight to a strum after picking. Thank you for all you do.

apparently both les paul and eddie van halen experiented with gluing sandpaper to the pick to make it rougher…
