Major Seventh Chords
This lesson begins our series on learning seventh chords across the entire guitar neck.
We will be using a system to memorize the chords shapes called the CAGED method or CAGED Sequence.
The video covers the basics of the CAGED method as well as five Major Seventh chord forms. We learn five Major Sevenths so we can have a Major Seventh chord shape available for us to use, wherever we are on the guitar neck.

Hi carl! Loving the lessons they are amazing!! …i have a little question for i am a bit confused tho. In the basic open position seventh chords, the Gmaj7 has a note on the 5th string( b note) but during the caged sequence when using the g shape around the neck we dont use the note on the 5th string? why so? Me confused haha,
Hey Phil, thanks for the question. We simply don’t use it in the CAGED form because since you have to do a bar with your first finger it would make it almost impossible to play that note. They are just different voicings of the same chord type. 😀
