Ordinary World Guitar Lesson – Duran Duran

In this acoustic guitar lesson, I am going to show you how to play all the chords to "Ordinary World" by Duran Duran.

In addition to those chords, we will also take an in-depth look at the opening guitar solo and the little guitar break heard after the 1st chorus.

The chords you will learn in this Ordinary World guitar lesson aren't very difficult to play as long as you feel comfortable playing simple bar chord shapes.

Some of these chords may look like bar chords but in reality you won't be playing a bar. You will instead allow the high E and B strings ring open while playing a basic power chord shape. The type of chord form is used a lot in popular music since it creates a nice open sound while still allow the harmony to be felt with the power chord shapes.

There will be three distinct chord progressions to learn. A chorus, verse and pre-chorus.

As for the little guitar leads, I will cover the opening solo which is a very simple melody played over the chorus chord progression. The more challenging lead part will be the break that happens after the first chorus.

This break requires some pretty big stretches, hybrid picking and cross string picking. It goes by pretty quick so I think that section alone will make a great technical exercise that you can simply loop over and over again at a slow tempo in order to master it.

So I hope you guys enjoy learning this beautiful song by Duran Duran!
