Romance – Acoustic Fingerstyle Guitar Lesson- Romanza

This free video guitar lesson is for the beautiful fingerstyle guitar piece "Romance". It is very well known in the classical guitar world and is a great workout for using bar chords.

The TAB for this song can be found below:

Romance Acoustic Fingerstyle TAB PDF Download

Take your time with the stretches, especially in the second half of the tune. Learn to adjust the pressure of the bar chord to be able to use as little pressure as possible in order for the notes to sound in the chord. As long as you are focused on minimal pressure it will eventually become second nature.

For the right hand, try and practice the arpeggio pattern by itself on open strings before adding the left hand. It is very important to get the prepared strokes down comfortably before putting the two hands together.

Have Fun with this beautiful piece!

Thanks so much for this video lesson of Romanza. I love this piece.Would you please consider doing Un dia de Noviembre by Brouwer. Or anything relatively simple by Brouwer. Thanks

Well, Carl, I’m going to try to learn this one. Been working on Greensleeves, haven’t nailed it completely yet, but getting there.

Thanks a million for all these lessons.

This is a wonderful lesson. Thank you for posting it. The PDF seems to cover only Part I of the piece. Is there another link or another file that includes the tab for Part II? Thanks again!

    • Carl Brown on June 2, 2014 at 11:39 am

Hey Jack, I think when you are downloading or printing the PDF you are somehow only getting the first page.

There are two pages to the PDF covering the entire song. Please try it again and make sure you are not just printing the current page or something like that. Be sure to print all pages and you should get the second one as well. 🙂

Really great lessons thanks. I am a beginner player, and doing pretty well with this, but the bar chords are KILLING me! So, so hard to get sound from all the strings. Any tips for mastering bar chords??? Thanks!

    Hey Carl,
This is really a great song and a great lesson too. Can you please teach the classical version of Imagine Dragons by Radioactive???? Much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Rahul

I’ve heard this song played in 8/8 time and really like the meter (duh-duh-duh duh-duh-duh duh-duh). I think that’s 8/8 time anyway.

Is there anywhere I can hear part two played through from beginning to end?

If I can get the stretches without dislocating my pinkie I’ll be there! Thanks Carl, you’ve taught me Greensleeves, Classical Gas and now this and I picked up the guitar (age 65) less than a year ago. I appreciate it so much.
