Schism Guitar Lesson – Tool

In this Schism guitar lesson, I will show you how to play this incredible song by Tool note-for-note.

The tuning is Dropped "D" Tuning. That is, starting from the 6th string, D A D G B E.

Adam Jones' guitar style never disappoints over his decades in Tool. Every song just has so many little intricacies that he throws in it is impossible to keep track. His guitar work on "Schism" is no different.

From the rhythm of the opening riff that floats back and forth from 5/8 to 7/8, the fluid muted hammer-on riffs, the bridge with timed delays and the driving power chord riffs, there is a lot to cover here in this lesson.

I will take you through each section of the song in the order that it appears. There are always a lot of little nuances that Adam Jones throws in, so make sure you don't skip around in the video.

The good thing is that the main riffs are similar, just moved into different keys so they should be pretty easy to memorize.

I hope you guys enjoy learning this masterpiece from Tool!
