Spit Out The Bone Guitar Lesson – Metallica

In this Spit Out The Bone guitar lesson video series, I will show you how to play this epic thrash metal workout off of Metallica's Hardwired... To Self-Destruct album.

The song is played in standard tuning.

In the first video lesson, I will demonstrate all of the riffs and guitar solos up until about the 4:44 mark of the song where the awesome jam section begins. In the second video lesson, I will show you how to play that jam section plus the main guitar solo that happens after it.

As with just about all Metallica songs, there are a ton of riffs in "Spit Out the Bone". What is really cool about it is the fact that there are so many different rhythm styles being used, from straight thrash to groove metal. You would be hard pressed to find a better picking workout for the aspiring metal rhythm guitarist.

I will go through each riff as it appears in the song. There are also multiple guitar solos and harmony guitar parts as well. Those will also be shown in the order they appear in the song.

I will be letting you know the exact minute and second mark of each new section so you won't get lost. Also, before I demonstrate the guitar solo sections, I will show you all of the rhythm guitar work that occurs under that solo first.

This is a very fun yet challenging song to play. It is really cool that Metallica is still putting out music that is this intense about 35 years after their debut. Pretty astounding stuff.

Enjoy!

Carl...
