Sunshine Of Your Love Guitar Lesson – Cream

In this Sunshine Of You Love guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this Cream classic note-for-note.

The main riff was actually written by Jack Bruce but played and expanded to great effect by Eric Clapton.

This Sunshine Of Your Love guitar lesson begins with the single note version of the the riff that opens the song.

From there we continue through different variations on that riff with the addition of double stops in addition to taking the riff to the IV chord.

Probably the most challenging aspect of this Sunshine Of Your Love guitar lesson will be the the quick triple stop triads stabs and use of the thumb for some of the bass notes.

I do show a couple of different ways of playing those quick triads that Clapton plays. He actually plays them a bit differently today than he did on the original recording so I just demonstrated both for completeness sake.

In the second video lesson, I will demonstrate how to play Eric Clapton's solo for "Sunshine of Your Love" phrase-by-phrase. This solo has lots of bends a some strange phrasing to get your head around. Hopefully you will find the lesson easy to follow though. 🙂

In any case, I hope you enjoy learning one of Cream's biggest chart topping hits!

Carl, great lesson but you need tab notes with this lesson because it is so complicated It is hard to follow.

Wish I could but the TABS would be illegal. 🙁

It seems like it would be helpful to mention that the solo is based on the melody of Blue Moon.

Thanks again Carl. Appreciate you doing EC’s solo for us. You break it down very well, it is easy to follow you as you demonstrate how it’s played.
