The Times They Are A-Changin Guitar Chords Lesson – Bob Dylan

In this The Times The Are A-Changin' guitar chords lesson video, I will show you how to play this Bob Dylan acoustic classic in it's entirety.

We will be using standard tuning for this one, just like Bob Dylan did on the original recording.

We basically have one verse chord progression to learn, along with 5 separate chord progressions for the chorus.

The verse is almost identical every time it appears in the song except for just one slight variation.

However, the chorus sections include harmonica solos as well so they are played quite differently each time.

I will start out the lesson demonstrating the 3 simple strumming patterns that are used throughout the song.

I will then lay out the verse chord progression for you. It is a long chord progression so it would be best to write the chords as I call them out along with the number of times the strumming pattern is played for that particular chord.

We then will take a look at each individual chorus section in the order they appear in the song. Keep in mind, the chorus sections also include the harmonica solos. Once again writing down these chord names as I call them out is a good idea to get you familiar with the song faster.

As I mention in the video, it would be a good idea to be very familiar with the sound of the original recording when trying to the learn this song since the chorus sections are all so different from one another.

The good thing is, the chords themselves are just simple open position chords so you probably won't have to focus too much on the technical side of things.

Have fun with this acoustic classic from the great Bob Dylan!

Working on this with my niece on the Ukelele! Teaching her strumming patterns so your helped alot with that…but besides the chords…I want to include the hatmonica notes so she can play that as well…can you help with that? If I know the names of the notes I can write the Tabs for her…Otherwise…I will just listen over and over again to get it my head to figure it out.
If you can assist that would be very helpful. (she is 10 years old and incorporating classical, folk, 60’s into her repertoire..she is learning to sing at the same time!!!!Great at Blowin’In The Wind…her favorite besides Bach Prelude!!!

    Thank you
