In this all new "Lick Of The Week" video lesson we will take a look at using guitar harmonics with fretted notes.
Guitar harmonics w/fretted notes is a technique used by many great guitarists in many different styles. Those players include Steve Vai, Tommy Emmanuel, Chet Atkins, Al Dimeola and countless others.
Using guitar harmonics w/fretted notes can create an almost harp like sound on the guitar. It also opens the door to many chord voicings that would be impossible to play otherwise.
The key to mastering using guitar harmonics w/fretted notes is to pay attention to the delicate touch required for the harmonics around a more forcefully held chord.
In this "Lick Of The Week" you will see me using guitar harmonics within a chord and over a moving bass line. Once you get the hang of it you can create countless runs that will definitely grab the listeners attention.
Although some of the chord/harmonic chord forms I use require a pretty big stretch in this video lesson, don't let that stop you from experimenting with this guitar harmonics technique. You can also get a lot of mileage out of the second half of the lick which just uses only one single bass note at a time with guitar harmonics placed on top of it.

Hi carl I’m Ray my girl kate set this site up for me so you might see the name kate. Great site lots of insight I have been playing by ear for 20 years It nice to slow down and understand and do it right with out flying through it and winging it before I started here all I knew was the pentatonic minor scale.It takes me a little longer now because I have to unlearn the cheats and short cuts not all but to learn to slow and learn and not just to on the song and jam.That said its an awesome site could you possibly do I know a little by lynyrd skynyrd I know there is a lot of guitars in it but the intro licks are drive me nuts thanx Ray Farrell from CT.
