Weekly Guitar Technique Workout – Week One

In this weekly guitar technique workout series I am going to try and give you a solid way of practicing various guitar techniques in an organized manner.

When trying to learn to master all the various techniques one can do on the guitar it can be quite confusing and frustrating trying to figure out how to practice them all.

So what this weekly guitar technique workout will provide you is a steady progression of lessons that encompass pretty much every technique imaginable on the guitar.

The idea is to take each weekly guitar technique workout and play them together back to back.

The focus with this kind of technique study is not only on proper technique, but also on endurance. The first few workouts will be more basic but also make a great warmup for more advanced guitar players.

As I add more weekly guitar technique workouts they will become more challenging and encompass and enormous amount of guitar techniques. But hopefully, you can start combining all of these individual weekly guitar workouts into one large guitar technique workout that you can play through everyday or at least a few times a week.

This is a big undertaking on my part, but if you meet me half way and study the weekly guitar technique workouts thoroughly I think just about anymore will become a more well rounded player with great stamina.

So buckle up and let's get down to business! 🙂

If these free lessons help you, please donate to keep new ones coming daily. Thanks!! 🙂

Yes Sir…….fantastic exercises, just what I need! Carl, for fingerstyle purists, I suppose that all these scale routines can be accomplished using IM and PM fingers….right?

    • Carl Brown on August 25, 2015 at 10:07 am

That would probably depend on the style you want to play. If it is a style that doesn’t require rest strokes, you will probably find PM alternation the fastest. If it requires rest stokes, then IM would be the way to go. 🙂

Thanks Carl, that answers my question. A fingerstylist can at least use one of the two ,,,,,,IM or PM and preferably should practice both.

Hi, Carl! Good exercise, but how I must work on? How many times to play? What tempo? Where to begin, and where to finish? Have you any system to training?

    • Carl Brown on November 6, 2016 at 11:59 am

Hey Mikhail, my guitar technique courses found in the Premium section are where you will find my own personal systems for developing technique.

Have you checked those out yet?

      Carl…

    Ok. I’ll check it.

I did these exercises when first took up guitar again and was really surprised that I could just play the C scale in the beginning of Maybe I’m Amazed perfectly. They really work! Also great way to warm up hands and fingers before playing.
