Welcome to the new GuitarLessons365!
Hey guys, this is actually my first blog post and I plan on doing this at least every couple of days from now on. That way you guys can keep tabs on whatever is going on in my daily life. HOW EXCITING EHH???
I am gonna keep this one short because I simply want to welcome you to the new GuitarLessons365.
I have been working on the redesign of the site for seven weeks now and I have not only changed the look but also added many new features and made the site much more easy to use and navigate.
Please cruise around the site a little bit and leave me a response to this blog post to let me know how you like the new site.
I still have a few things I need to finish up this week with the new design including the addition of a site store, but you should expect new lessons to be coming out again this coming week.
And we are talking about a TON of new lessons every week from here on out.
It's gonna be fun!

Hey Carl, have you ever thought about branching the site out to adding stuff like singing lessons or piano lessons? I cannot find any really good online singing people that have a good online beginner singing course and cannot afford personal lessons. Also, doing stuff like that would also appeal to a wider audience. Or would that be way too much work?

My twin brother is an incredible drummer and we thought about creating a sister site to GL365 for him to teach drums, but the logistics of making a drum lesson site just didn’t work out. 🙁

Hey Carl,
Have you ever considered developing a lesson on the setting up a video studio for musicians? That is, I’ve noticed how clean and pleasing to the eye your videos always are.
Your background is usually a gentle “blue-greenish” curtain, softly illuminated close to the floor. This focuses the eye on you and your guitar. Both you and the guitar are sufficiently lighted but with no glare. The lighting you use makes actually seeing your guitar and your hands a breeze.
I know these things things are well thought-out and are not by accident.
The audios also are always clear (not too loud…. not too soft) and are without distortion. For example, what kinds of microphones do you use… and where to you place them? (Just as a couple of sample questions about your audio setup).
In short, the video and audio aspects of your videos are totally professional. I am quite sure many guitarists (and other “video makers” would really go for a lesson on the “logistics of setting up a studio”…
It’s just an idea.

Hey RJ, thanks for noticing all the work that goes into the videos!
You will actually see many different video setups with the lessons through the years. When I first started doing online video lessons almost 10 years ago, I was doing everything myself with very limited equipment.
However, after about 4 years my brother came onboard to become the video editor and we are constantly looking for ways to improve since. It is pretty crazy to see the first videos compared to the ones we do now with three 4K cameras running at all times, and a dedicated filming studio with professional lighting that we can be consistent with.
The audio is always recorded direct when I am making an electric guitar video. I typically have a Line 6 pedalboard going straight into Logic Pro. My voice is recorded with a lapel mic. Acoustic lessons are a bit more tricky to sound great since you need to mic the acoustic and you can’t use the lapel mic with it.
In any case, I probably wouldn’t be the best to learn lighting setups from since it all depends on the room and we have changed many times. Plus, my brother would know a lot more about it than I would. I personally don’t even know how to turn the cameras on. Haha!!

Hey, CB, great site and info. Just picked up a new axe for the first time in years and discovered your site. If I’d had your input years ago maybe I’d be able to actually play now. The blues series just lit a light bulb that I’ve never seen in my thick skull and made such sense I think I’ll actually be able to improvise for the first time. Thanks.
All that being said, how about adding a little Greatful Dead, like Deep Elem Blues to your quick riffs?

I have had a forum a few times over the years but none of them ever really took off. For the people that did go into the forums it was like a ghost town which makes the site look bad so I finally just stopped trying.
In reality, since every lesson on this site has a comment section, every lesson page itself is like a forum thread and we have some nice long discussions with 100’s of comments on some of the lessons. Maybe one day I will try the forum thing again, but until then I think the comment section for every lesson is a great way to interact with me and other members. 🙂 At least I hope it is! Haha

Hey Scott, all of those lessons along with my video responses can be found in the Premium Plus areas of the Premium section.
Eventually, when there are enough Premium Plus lessons I will dedicate an entire section of the site to just them. In the meantime, you can find them at the bottom of each Premium section.
In other words, if it is a question about blues guitar the lesson will be in the blues Premium section under the Premium Plus heading. 🙂

Let me tell you I think if you formed a band and made your own music you’d get singles on the radio your an amazing guitarist if anyone says otherwise tell them to go fuck themselves because your one of the best damn guitarist that i know.
Any way there’s this guitar I have and it’s one used by Kirk Hammett it’s cheap and any way it’s an ltd esp guitar and I think you should buy one because they sound amazing it’s called an esp ltd M-10 kit black it’s only 200 bucks anyway yeah do you the song ride the lightning by metallica
