When I Come Around Guitar Lesson – Green Day

In this When I Come Around guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this early hit from Green Day in it's entirety.

The tuning is Eb tuning which means every string is tuned down one half-step. Those notes are, starting from the 6th string, Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb.

Billie Joe Armstrong keeps it relatively simple with this one. The opening riff uses basic power chords along with minor and major chords.

There are only two chord progressions used for the entire song so I think just about anyone can get this one down rather quickly.

I will also take you through Billie Joe's guitar solo note-for-note. This melodic solo is built around a G major triad using arpeggiated picking that develops into full strumming.

This is a great song no matter what level of a player you are. Have fun!
