White Wedding Guitar Lesson – Billy Idol
In this White Wedding guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this classic hit by Billy Idol in it's entirety.
We will be using standard tuning for this lesson video.
With one of the most recognizable opening guitar riffs of the 80's, "White Wedding" will be a fun addition to your guitar repertoire.
That opening riff always leads into some big chord strums and a couple of those chords can be tricky to play. This is because, on the original recording these strums are overdubbed with multiple guitars playing slightly different voicings of the same chords. I will show you the chords that sound closest to the recording, along with a few alternative ways to play them to make them a bit easier but still sound great.
After that we have the verse, which contains simple muted power chords. In the second verse, those power chords will be joined by an overdubbed guitar riff playing double-stops. I will demonstrate that riff as well. You will probably need two guitarists in order to make it sound like the record.
The chorus is also very simple containing power chords that are sustained to contrast with the muted power chords of the verse.
The guitar solo section contains mostly the main riff albeit with a slight extension on the end of it.
I will also go over a couple of the lead guitar overdubs towards the end of the lesson, but since those are really just kind of sound effects, I am not going to focus on them very much.
