In this You Are So Beautiful guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play the chords to Joe Cocker's classic version of this song on the acoustic guitar.
Written by Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher, Joe Cocker's version is by far the way most people know this song, so I have based the harmonies off of his version played on piano.
Because the song wasn't performed on guitar, the recordings original key of Ab major can be a bit hard to play unless we add a capo. So I have created my arrangement using a standard tuned guitar with a capo at the 1st fret.
Even though the capo eliminates the need to play bar chords, some of the chords can still be quite challenging. But overall, I think this is a great song for any lower intermediate and above player.

My #1 Guitar Guru/Teacher!… Like EVERYTHING Ive seen you play, this is FANTASTIC, and as close to PERFECT as you can GET on a Guitar!… You give GREAT LESSONS, but my EYESIGHT is failing – Can you PLEASE put the CHORD DIAGRAMS/ DOTS, for THIS song, PLEASE?…. Sometimes I cant tell if some of your fingers are just OVER a Fret, or pressing DOWN on it…. THEN I will be able to PLAY it!… (But NOT as good as YOU!)
