Billy Idol – Dancing With Myself Guitar Lesson

In this Dancing With Myself guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play all of this simple and fun to play classic by Billy Idol note-for-note.

The tuning is standard tuning.

First off, I believe there is a way that guitarist Steve Stevens plays "Dancing With Myself" live, and the way it was originally recorded. Live he tends to play the main melody riff on the G string some of the time, allowing the B and high E strings to ring out under it.

But on the original recording I don't really hear him doing anything but playing the melody on the B string while letting just the high E string to ring. I will explain all of this fully in the lesson. You can feel free to play it in any way you wish. Steve Stevens freely switches between both ways of playing the riff when playing live.

This main riff is not only catchy, but very easy to play. The chorus uses simple power chords and major chords.

The solo is also very simple yet highly effective and probably my favorite part of the song. This solo is playable even by the beginner level guitarist since it is basically just 4 melody notes repeated.

I hope you guys enjoy learning this upbeat classic from Billy Idol!

Great lesson. Would really love to see you do Black Betty by Ram Jam in its entirety.
