The Flame Guitar Lesson – Cheap Trick

In this guitar lesson video for The Flame, I will show you how to play this great ballad by Cheap Trick note-for-note.

Then tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.

I will start the lesson teaching the acoustic intro, verse and pre-chorus sections. There are some beautiful fingerpicking parts in this section of the lesson video so be sure to watch the video in full.

From the chorus on I will grab my strat and we will take care of all the electric guitar parts. For the chorus the part, I am demonstrating something similar to what Rick Nielsen would play live. It is combining the big rock power chords along with harmony that is heard on the synth tracks and acoustic guitars into one big part.

I will then tackle Rick Nielsen's short but instantly recognizable solo. It is a excellent study in creating great guitar melodies.
