The God That Failed Guitar Lesson – Metallica

In this The God That Failed guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this awesome song off of Metallica's Black album, note-for-note.

The tuning is Eb standard tuning. That is, starting from the 6th string, Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. Or, if your tuner displays chromatic notes as sharps instead of flats, those notes will be D# G# C# F# A# D#.

"The God That Failed" has Metallica in full on groove mode, sort of reminiscent of "Sad But True" from the same album. The riffs are catchy, but not at breakneck speed making them relatively easy to play for the intermediate level guitarist.

Kirk Hammett's guitar solo is definitely a different story though. This solo is one of his most beloved and easily one of his best. I will take you through the entire solo note-for-note. There are lots of tricky sections in this solo but it is a great one to learn if you want a better understanding of Kirk Hammett's playing style.

Have fun with this Metallica classic! Carl...
