Brain Stew / Jaded Guitar Lesson – Green Day
In this guitar lesson video video for Brain Stew / Jaded, I will show you how to play this popular joint single by Green Day note-for-note.
The tuning for both songs is Eb standard tuning. That is, starting from the 6th string, Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. Or if your tuner displays sharps for chromatic notes instead of flats, those notes will be, D# G# C# F# A# D#.
Green Day released these two songs as a joint single so I thought it was good idea to include both in this lesson even though Brain Stew is the more popular song. They often play them back-to-back live as well.
"Brain Stew" is the easier of the two songs to play and is a great entry level song for someone learning how to move power chords around. This song also makes for an excellent muting and strumming workout. I will cover each section in the order that each appears on the original recording.
Once "Jaded" kicks in the tempo is ramped up quite a bit so it is more appropriate for an intermediate level player and above who has strong rhythm guitar skills.
