Love Gun Guitar Lesson – KISS
In this Love Gun guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great rock classic by KISS note-for-note.
The tuning is Eb standard tuning. That is, starting from the 6th string, Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. Or, if your tuner displays the chromatic notes as sharps, those notes will be D# G# C# F# A# D#.
There is some great guitar work in this one by Ace and Paul, both with rhythm and leads. I will tackle each section in the order that each appears on the original recording. Along the way, I will also let you know the guitar parts that Paul Stanley is playing and the ones Ace Frehley plays.
And of course, I will cover Ace's killer guitar solo note-for-note. This solo makes for a great picking workout since it uses a lot of repeated fast picking patterns that allow you to memorize them quickly while still creating quite the challenge to get up to speed. It would be a great practice workout to isolate each of these patterns and practice them as a repeated exercise.
If you don't know how to do that sort of thing, I have an entire section in the GL365 Academy that demonstrates in detail how to take real world music and create practice exercises from it. The series is called "Mastering Difficult Licks". It will enable you to create a practice routine that uses real music that you actually want to play instead of just dry technique work. It is a great way to develop all techniques. Hopefully you will check it out!
Have fun learning this 70's rock classic and R.I.P. Ace Frehley! Carl...
