Nightmare Guitar Lesson – Avenged Sevenfold

In this Nightmare guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this killer shred fest by Avenged Sevenfold note-for-note.

The tuning is Dropped D tuning DADGBE.

Throughout the song, there are many harmony guitar sections, monster riffs, and virtuosic solos. I will take you through each section of the song in the order that they appear.

When the guitars enter, we have a harmony guitar section over some fast alternate picked palm muted rhythmic bursts.

After that we make it to the verse which is relatively easy to play except for the very last lick. The pre-chorus can be a bit tricky rhythmically, but I will go in-depth on how to understand it.

The chorus is by far the easiest section of the song, so use it to catch your breath. Haha..

The interlude and solo sections contain a lot of harmony guitar work. I will go through Zacky Vengeance's parts first. I am covering basically what they play live instead of going through every harmony part found on the original recording.

After that, I will cover Synyster Gates' solo note-for-note. This solo contains tons of techniques from economy picking to sweep picking, rapid alternate picking, tremolo picking and more.

Have fun with this great track from Avenged Sevenfold!
