S.A.T.O. Guitar Lesson – Ozzy Osbourne

In this S.A.T.O. guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great song off of Ozzy Osbourne's Diary of a Madman album featuring the amazing Randy Rhoads on the guitar.

As with most of Randy Rhoads guitar work, "S.A.T.O." is quite the challenge to play both with the rhythm guitar work and the incredible guitar solo Randy put down on this track.

I will cover each section of the song in the order that each appears on the original recording.

We will start with the intro. The intro consists of multiple guitars on the original recording. What I have done instead of transcribing all of those guitar parts is combine them into a relatively simple one to play on one guitar. This is NOT how Randy played it in the study, but instead it is a relatively playable way to sound like that intro with just one guitarist.

From there I will cover everything in a more note-for-note fashion. The rhythm guitar parts are challenging enough, but Randy also throws tons of guitar fills at us. I will be covering most of those fills until the last verse, you will be on your own for that one. 🙂

Of course the star of the show here is Randy's amazing guitar solo. I will teach you how to play that solo note-for-note, going through it phrase-by-phrase. It is a very challenging solo to get up to the tempo that Randy recorded it at. But it will be a lot of fun to play once you get everything down! Playing it a bit slower still sounds awesome.

Have fun learning yet another masterful piece of fretboard wizardly by the incomparable Randy Rhoads! Carl...
