The Magic of Sustaining Scales

FavoriteLoadingBookmark this Lesson.

I have a fun one for you today! We are going to take a look at one of my favorite techniques to use on acoustic guitar or when using a clean tone on my electric. I call it sustaining scales.

I picked this concept up from the late great Ted Greene. has tons of Ted's teachings that are passed along from past students of his, all for free. So if you want to see this concept taken to a much higher level with harp harmonics and more, go check out his site.

To more easily follow along with this video lesson, make sure you download the TAB below.

The gorgeous sound that this technique creates usually requires some pretty big stretches, but, it is worth it in the end. I will demonstrate how I usually walk into larger chord forms in the video lesson and that way of playing makes the chords much easier to play.

I hope you enjoy learning this exciting and very inspiring way to play scales!
