Bon Iver – Skinny Love Guitar Lesson

In this Skinny Love guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this beautiful acoustic song from Bon Iver in it's entirety.

The first thing you will need to know, is that guitarist/vocalist Justin Vernon uses a pretty strange tuning in this one. The tuning is open C tuning and the notes, starting from the 6th string are C G E G C C. I will also go through the tuning in the video lesson.

The original track is performed on a vintage resonator, but I will be using a normal acoustic for the lesson. It still sounds great!

"Skinny Love" is one of those songs that sounds great even without any vocals on it. The unique tuning creates a great vehicle for really cool sounding guitar parts that sound great as an instrumental.

Throughout "Skinny Love", you will basically play two separate chord progressions with slight variations and melodic licks thrown in there. I will take each section and it's variations in the order that they appear in the song.

I will also go over the strumming patterns which stay pretty consistent throughout the song.

I hope you guys enjoy learning this great acoustic song from Bon Iver!
