Bottoms Up! Guitar Lesson – Van Halen
In this Bottoms Up! guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great song off of Van Halen II note-for-note.
The tuning is Eb standard tuning. That is, starting from the 6th string, Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. Or, if your tuner displays sharps instead of flats for the chromatic notes, those notes will be D# G# C# F# A# D#. Keep in mind that this is the tuning they are performing the song in, however, what you hear in the final product in slightly sharp in pitch due to the analog reel-to-reel transfer slightly altering the pitch of the final recording.
But boy do we have a fun one today! The kind of swing is back with a barn burner that incorporates many different technique while all along keeping that deep swing feel.
I will cover each section of "Bottoms Up!" in the order that each appears on the original recording. This includes both of Ed's killer guitar solos.
Have fun tackling the awesome boogie! Carl...
