Can’t Fight This Feeling Guitar Lesson – REO Speedwagon

In this Can't Fight This Feeling guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this beautiful ballad by the great REO Speedwagon on the guitar.

The tuning is standard tuning.

First off, a majority of this lesson will be demonstrating the chords played throughout "Can't Fight This Feeling" on acoustic guitar. However, I am NOT playing the same acoustic guitar chords that Kevin Cronin plays live. I have instead opted to try and arrange the piano chords for guitar to make the chord progressions sound more like the original recording.

In live performances, Kevin Cronin uses a capo at the 2nd fret on his acoustic, while playing a sort of stripped down version of the chord progressions. This works great because he is playing along with the piano. But I won't be using a capo and will instead try to play similar chord voicings to what the piano is doing. Since this is mostly a piano based song, I thought that would be the best way to tackle this song. This makes things a bit more challenging, but well worth the effort in my opinion.

I will go through each chord progression in the song in the order that each appears on the original recording.

A little later on in the video lesson, I will grab my strat and show you to play Gary Richrath's guitar solo for "Can't Fight This Feeling" note-for-note.

I hope you enjoy learning this beautiful song by REO Speedwagon!

R.I.P Gary Richrath! Carl...
