This song requires a 7 string guitar tuned down a whole-step in order to be performed like Head and Munky do on the original recording. That tuning, starting from the 7th string, will be A D G C F A D. This number is also known as A standard tuning.
I will cover each section of the song in the order that each appears on the original recording. There are some interesting things going on in this one. Beyond the sometimes intricate interplay between Head and Munky's guitar parts, there are also a slew of effects and non-common technique being used.
The main effect that you can hear multiple times in the song being used by both Head and Munky is the whammy pedal. I will explain all the whammy pedal settings as I go through the lesson video.
