Hi, I’ve been wanting to learn “Run for your life” by The Beatles but can’t find it. Please help me.

Carl, I need help knowing what strum pattern to use for a piticular song or different parts of the song. Are there lessons that can help me with that. Thanks. Merrill

    • Carl Brown on December 28, 2018 at 5:32 pm

Hey Merrill, I am not much of a strumming pattern type of a teacher. I instead show you how to feel rhythms naturally so that you aren’t counting things out all of the time which is how it is really done in the real world. My rhythm foundations course in the beginner section of the academy focuses on developing that ability so that rhythm is just very natural to you and you can just hear it and play it without thinking of patterns. The pattern will automatically be correct when you FEEL it correctly. 🙂

How do I look up Beatles music , I’ve seen some of your free lessons but would like more of what I don’t see , thank you , I’ve signed up for you three months corse .

    • Carl Brown on August 31, 2019 at 12:10 pm

Hey Craig, great to here from you. All of the song lessons are in the song lessons section here:

Just click that link and all the artists are listed alphabetically. Be sure to look for them under the T section since their official name is “The Beatles”. 🙂

Going to try out your free lessons before committing to paid. I’ve had some bad luck on some other subscription stuff, so would like to try it out.
I was excited to find your “real” version of Shinedown’s Simple Man acoustic. I’ve started working on that and now starting the free lessons.
My son has been playing for years and two songs I want to play with him are Simple Man and Landing in London by 3 Doors Down with arpeggios. Have you done a video on that one.
Like your teaching style and looking forward to learning the guitar again.

Hey Alan, thanks for checking out the academy. I haven’t heard that 3 Doors Down song but will definitely check it out. 🙂

Have learned a great deal from you by watching YouTube. Decided to buy the premium package. I’m a “baby boomer” who started playing many years ago and then life seemed to demand more of my time. Any chance of you doing a tutorial on “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in the style of Tommy Emmanuel? If you haven’t heard it you can have a listen on YouTube.

    • Carl Brown on January 8, 2020 at 1:27 pm

Hey Jim, that is a great one! I used to play an arrangement of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” I like even more than Emmanuel’s.

That arrangement was by the late great Ted Greene and is available for free on his website You should check that one out! 🙂

      • Jim Hunter on January 11, 2020 at 8:34 pm

Thanks Carl for the link to Ted Greene’s website. Any chance of you putting “Over The Rainbow” back into your tutorials? It would be greatly appreciated.
        Thanks so much.

Hey Jim, I actually never recorded it for the site. Sounds like a good idea though! 🙂
