Stay Away Guitar Lesson – Nirvana

In this Stay Away guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great song off of their Nevermind album note-for-note.

The tuning is standard tuning E A D G B E.

There are basically 3 riffs total here. The opening riff, which is also the chorus riff, is by far the most difficult to play because of how fast the power chords are moving around.

Also, when playing this chorus riff, you will see Kurt Cobain play it slightly differently live. I will be focusing on the original recorded version, but will also show you the difference between the live and studio riffs.

The verse is a simple little bendy lick that mimics the vocals, which is a device Kurt Cobain liked to use a lot in his music.

There is also one other bridge riff that uses a couple of power chords into another bendy lick. All-in-all, a really fun song to play!
