Sultans Of Swing Guitar Lesson Videos – Dire Straits

In these Sultans Of Swing Guitar Lesson Videos we will take on the epic classic rock masterpiece by Dire Straits.

Sultans Of Swing Guitar Lessons Videos will show you how Mark Knopfler treats every line in every verse to a little finger-style lead guitar magic making it quite a nice study in his soloing style.

Every single note will be broken down for you slowly in these videos, so take your time and try and memorize each verse section before going on to the next.

Eventually, after getting all the parts down your ear will tell you whats coming up next because you should be very familiar with every inch of the tune.

The Sultans Of Swing Guitar Lessons Vidoes are 7 video lessons in all including a full performance video, and in them I will break down the entire track slowly and note-for-note. Good luck!! 😀

    Hi Carl,

Great job. Been wanting to learn this for ages. Keep up the good work.
One note, as the colour of your guitar board is quite light, it is a bit difficult to see your fingers etc.

    Hey Carl,

Very nice cover and very instructive lesson! Where do you get your backing tracks for your close up performances? Thank you.

This song is probably the best example of the huge talent of Mark Knopfler. I have been a finger player for always and this music fits right up my alley. Once again you nailed it Carl!

    • Carl Brown on October 19, 2017 at 9:43 am

Yes yuo are correct! It is hard to overestimate Knopfler’s talent. He has so much great guitar work that it is hard to find a place to start when learning his stuff. 🙂

Absolutely awesome – Knoplfler is a giant. Your work to allow ordinary people to attempt to reproduce it in some form is, as usual, immensely generous and very humbling. Heartfelt thanks.

Thanks for the video. I am using it along with my teacher to get through this, very challenging for me, song. Would love to hear you work through another Knopfeller classic, Wild Theme/Going home from the Local Hero soundtrack. A truly hauntingly beautiful tune.

Carl, this is excellent. Thank you! I’ve really been enjoying songs that involve finger picking. Are there any other songs you’ve already transcribed that come to mind for me to check out? Thanks again!

    • Carl Brown on April 5, 2020 at 8:51 am

“Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” sounds like a nice one to try fingerstyle. 🙂

Great. Thank you! Btw looks like you got a new ibenez. What is your favorite guitar you own?

    Carl,
Thank you for all that you do.
I discovered…and have followed your YouTube channel for some time and went directly to this website in an effort to escape commercials and all.
I was disappointed to find my Vidami wasn’t supported.
Am I wrong? It is possible I’m doing something wrong.
    Please advise. Appreciate your work.

    • Carl Brown on June 12, 2022 at 9:27 am

It should work fine. The Vidami works with all YT videos and the videos on this site (NOT THE GL365 ACADEMY), are all YouTube embeds. If your Vidami isn’t working correctly I suggest asking them for help since I don’t know anything about how the technology work.
