Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart – Stone Temple Pilots

In this Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play all of this classic by the Stone Temple Pilots note-for-note.

Guitarist Dean DeLeo has always  come up with some really cool chords for the Stone Temple Pilots' music. It is always fun to play their songs because of the unique sounds those chords produce.

The verse section uses some really percussive strumming based around 2 chords. Between those two chords DeLeo plays muted strums, harmonics, and cross string picking.

From there the pre-chorus chords create a really interesting chord progression that lead chromatically down to the chorus.

The chorus uses more basic chords albeit with a really cool melody placed on top.

The guitar solo is quite challenging and I will break that up phrase-by-phrase. There are a lot of interesting techniques to learn in the solo so hope you will get a lot out of it.

I hope you guys enjoy learning this great guitar workout from the Stone Temple Pilots!
