In this video, I will explain what some of the most common guitar tunings are, and why they a named a certain way.

For many beginner players, tuning nomenclature can be a bit confusing. For instance, what is the difference between Drop D tuning and D Standard tuning? All will be revealed in this quick video lesson.

This video is a long time coming. I have been teaching people how to play songs from my YouTube channel for well over a decade. But, whenever the song is in a tuning that is not standard, I will get many comments from beginners that they don't understand why I would, for instance, tune to D standard as opposed to Drop D.

This video will explain what makes something a "standard" tuning (there is more than one), what makes something a drop tuning, and what makes something an open tuning, and how to understand the reasoning behind each.

I will also briefly touch on how various electric tuners will display chromatic notes.
