This is a fun one! The main riff to "Are You Gonna Go My Way" by Lenny Kravitz uses a bunch of rapid bends, string skips and double stops to create a funky groove with a huge rock sound.
In this free Are You Gonna Go My Way guitar lesson video I will demonstrate how to play all of this main riff in it's entirely including the harmony guitar part that comes in after the intro.
The riff to Are You Gonna Go My Way contains just a few notes and is very repetitive, which gives us a great opportunity to practice all of the techniques that are required to play it well.
As always, simply break these techniques down into individual phrases like it is taught in the lesson in order to be able to fully master each before putting them together into the complete riff.
Your main focus should primarily be on getting the rapid whole step bends done with your first finger in tune. Be careful here as well because a little to much practicing of that bend lick in one setting can cause your fingertip to blister.
And of course, for anyone wanting to learn the entire song just be sure to help it get to 600 YouTube likes. After the 600th like I will teach the entire song here note-for-note.
