Atomic Punk Guitar Lesson – Van Halen

In this Atomic Punk guitar lesson, I will show you how to play this classic off of Van Halen I note-for-note.

The tuning is Eb standard, Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb.

"Atomic Punk" is one of my favorite Van Halen songs to play. It isn't overly difficult, at least the rhythm guitar parts, and absolutely rocks beginning to end.

I will cover each riff in the song in the order that each appears on the original recording. I will also cover each fill that Eddie plays throughout the song.

I will then tackle Eddie's solo note-for-note. This solo has many of Ed's signature licks, including warp-speed repeated legato licks, tremolo picking and massive bends.

Have fun learning this Van Halen classic. We will miss you Eddie, but you will live forever in the music!

Great job on the solo. Try using the edge of the picking hand to rub the strings. That is how the swooshing part is done. Try it an see. You will get a more consistent sound.

Thanks for breaking this down….I thought it would be harder to play. This is my 5th VH song in my year 2020-2021 VanHalen tribute too Eddie.
