Blackout Guitar Lesson – Scorpions
In this Blackout guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this Scorpions' classic, note-for-note.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
During the intro section and the verse sections of "Blackout", Rudolf and Matthias play seperate riffs that compliment each other really well. Matthias' parts are quite a bit more difficult to play and contain a lot of fills.
The pre-chorus and chorus sections have each guitarist playing the same riff together.
I will go through each riff of the song in the order that each appears. I will also be demonstrating each fill that Matthias plays throughout the song, mostly during the verses.
I will then tackle Matthias' solo note-for-note. There are a lot of tricky licks in this one, so I will break it down phrase-by-phrase.
Have fun learning this Scorpions classic! Carl...

Really fun lesson! I’ve been enjoying the song for almost 40 years and never heard (or appreciated) the solo rhythm progression. Thanks Carl for the extra bonus.
1st verse mj’s filler you bend fret 7 on g. I can’t seem to know how you get that high pitched squeal. I just can’t seem to get that… which seems essential to sound correct…..???
