Don’t Tread On Me Guitar Lesson – Metallica
In this Don’t Tread On Me guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great song off of Metallica’s black album note-for-note.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
The intro contains a a melody line that is doubled an octave lower. I will demonstrate both of those melody lines. In fact, whenever you hear Kirk Hammett play a guitar melody, like over the main riff, it is being doubled an octave lower. In both cases, when playing live, he typically just plays the higher octave melody.
There are some killer riffs in this one. The main riff is one of my favorite Metallica riffs.
I will take you through each section of the song in the order that each appears on the original recording.
I will also go through Kirk Hammett’s solo note-for-note. This solo has some very cool licks in it including open string trills and a very cool symmetrical guitar lick ala Eddie Van Halen.
Have fun with this one! Carl...
