Fix You Guitar Lesson – Coldplay
In this guitar lesson I will show you how to play "Fix You" by Coldplay on the guitar. As with a lot of Coldplay's music, most of the instrumentation in "Fix You" is piano based. But don't worry about that, I will be transcribing all of those piano chords for the guitar.
You will need to tune your guitar down one-half step to Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb.
There are a few different sections to learn in this Fix You guitar lesson, and many of the chord progressions require you to be able to play bar chords fluently. The bar chords used are pretty standard though, so you will have probably played them before in many songs.
I think the most difficult section of the song to learn for most guitar players will be the short progression used during the chorus. The reason this is more challenging in because of the unorthodox Emaj/G# chord voicing that I use to more closely resemble the piano part. But with a little bit of practice, I am sure you will get it down just fine.
We then arrive at a short instrumental section dominated by a guitar melody line. I will show you how to play that guitar part plus the underlying chords.
When the vocals come back in we continue to play these same chords with just one variation. Make sure you pay close attention to this part of the lesson in order to know where that variation happens. 🙂
OK that is about it from me! Enjoy!
