How Deep Is Your Love Guitar Lesson – Bee Gees

In this guitar lesson video I will show you how to play the chords for the Bee Gees' classic "How Deep Is Your Love" on the guitar.

I keep the guitar in standard tuning which will make this song a great bar chord workout for those of you needing some practice with those chords.

The chord progressions you will learn in this How Deep Is Your Love guitar lesson are simply put, gorgeous.

Most players will find some of these chords to be completely new to them. That doesn't mean that they are very difficult to play, but they are definitely chords that you don't usually hear in popular music. But the Bee Gees had an incredible sense of harmony which makes for some very inspired chord work.

The song basically has four different sections, each with it's own chord progression. The first section we will take a look at is the intro. This is the chord progression those amazing vocals harmonies are being sung over at the beginning of the song.

When the lyrics arrive we have the verse chords. These chords make liberal use of minor 7th, major 7th and dominant 7th chords.

The pre-chorus then arrives and it includes a very cool dominant 9th chord. Chords like the dominant 9th add a dissonance to the chord progression that perfectly compliments the vocal melody. In fact, I would say that they are also my favorite part of the chord progressions because they stand out so much.

The final chord progression is for the chorus. We have definitely saved the best for last on this one. This beautiful chord progression includes an additional minor 6th chord that really takes everything to another level. Hopefully this can inspire you to come up with your own cool chord progressions.

One final note, don't forget to check out the last little bit of the lesson. I will demonstrate the 3 chords that are used during the last chorus. In other words, there is a turnaround to starrt each chorus over and it consists of those 3 chords chords. Those turnarounds happen at about the 3:02 and 3:32 marks of the song. Make sure you know those 3 chords are there or you may get lost when the chorus starts over again.

Have fun guys!
