I’m The One Guitar Lesson – Van Halen

In this I'm The One guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this Van Halen classic in it's entirety.

The tuning is Eb standard, Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb.

Probably second only to "Eruption", I feel that "I'm The One" demonstrated to the whole world just what a monster talent Eddie Van Halen was after the release of Van Halen I. The opening riff alone, with it's high-octane blues boogie feel, is almost impossible to make sound like Eddie did. Honestly, nobody could swing like Eddie, and this riff, when played at tempo, proves that more than just about anything he ever played.

Of course, between all of these great riffs, Eddie plays some incredible lead guitar work. It almost never lets up, until the vocal breakdown. That was probably put there just so us guitar players could simple take a breath. Haha...

I will go through each riff, fill and solo in the order that each appeared on the original recording.

This requires an almost 50 minute long lesson, but that is what is required to do this great song, and Eddie's guitar playing justice.

R.I.P. Eddie! Long live the KING!
