John Mayer – Love On The Weekend Guitar Lesson

In this Love On The Weekend guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this hit ballad by John Mayer note-for-note.

We will be using standard tuning.

The guitar tone is pretty important to making this song sound correct. Because of that, I have included some the basic tone settings that I used in the video lesson. You basically need 3 things, a good clean sound, a stereo delay followed by a long reverb.

I will start the video lesson showing the main riff of the song. I accidentally forgot to show the intro chord strum, so I had to include it at the end of the video lesson.

This main riff is finger picked and I will show you a couple different ways to play it. Underneath that is also an acoustic guitar strumming two chords. John Mayer has a very unique fingerpicking style and for "Love On The Weekend", there isn't really a definitive pattern that he is using.

After the main riff, I will show you the remaining sections of the song (verse, chorus and chorus extension).

When it comes to John Mayer songs, this is one of the easiest to play. Hopefully you guys will be able to get it down quickly.

Enjoy! Carl...
