Lake of Fire Guitar Lesson – Nirvana Unplugged
In this Lake of Fire guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this acoustic cover song by Nirvana from their Unplugged album.
"Lake of Fire" was originally a song by the Meat Puppets, and two members of the band joined Nirvana onstage for the performance of this song. In fact, all of the guitar parts are played by Curt Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets. Kurt Cobain didn't play guitar on this track.
You will need to tune your guitar down 1/2 step in order to follow along with the original recording and this video lesson. Those notes will be, starting from the 6th string, Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb.
There only only two different rhythm guitar parts to learn. Both of these rhythm guitar parts require you to be able to play bar chords well. There are also a few fills thrown in there from time to time which I will also cover.
The end of the song contains an acoustic guitar solo played by Curt Kirkwood. I will show you how to play this solo phrase-by-phrase. Most of the solo is based around a simple G minor blues scale form.
There are some nice and musical licks to learn in this solo so hopefully you will find some that you would like to throw into your own bag of tricks.
I hope you guys enjoy learning this popular acoustic track from Nirvana!
