Miguel Llobet – Canco del Lladre – Lesson

The guitar used in this lesson is a 2015 Fritz Mueller Cedar Doubletop - ClassicalGuitars.ca

Miguel Llobet's arrangements of popular catalan folk songs are some of the most well loved of the entire classical guitar repertoire.

"Canco del Lladre" is one of my personal favorites of his arrangements.

This is a great tune to work on creating a nice sweet singing melody over a lighter accompaniment.

Most of the challenges are in the left hand though, with some large stretches and fast shifts.

The harmonics are a large part of this great tune. Once again, some of the harmonics represent the melody and others are the background harmony.

I will take you through the TAB and point out any special technical demands and demonstrate how to overcome them.

I hope you guys enjoy learning this classical guitar masterpiece!

    Hey Carl,

It’s great to see you adding to your classical lessons with this very attractive arrangement. I believe Llobet was Tarrega’s star pupil and that Segovia knew him well, although Segovia never met Tarrega.

This may be the first time we have seen this guitar and it sounds beautiful, although as we know classical guitar tone also depends very much on the player!

Thanks Brian, I am glad you like the guitar!

Look for more classical stuff added every few weeks including a bunch of etudes and some other classical guitar masterpieces!
