Looks That Kill Guitar Lesson – Motley Crue

In this Looks That Kill guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this Motley Crue classic note-for-note!

The tuning is D standard tuning. That means that every string is tuned down one whole-step. Those notes are, starting from the 6th string, D G C F A D.

I will demonstrate each riff in the order that each one appears on the original recording. Some of my favorite Motley Crue riffs are in this one as well!

I will also demsontrate how to play Mick Mars' solo.

Have fun with this one guys!

Carl...

Awesome lesson Carl! Always wondered about micks tone though. At the time I hadn’t heard any other guitar sound like his on that album.

Hey, Carl could you do Bad Horsie from Steve Vai?

Sounds like a fun one, except I am not sure I could get one of my floating trem system guitars into that tuning. 🙁

This is an awesome lesson. The solo instruction really helps. Thanks for doing this one!

Carl, if you’re thinking about any Crue songs in the future I’d really appreciate a lesson on Primal Scream. Especially the solo. Thanks!

Hi Carl – Thank you for this lesson!! One of my all time favorite songs. I thought the coolest thing growing up was the music video when the pentagram hits Mick’s guitar leading up to the solo.

Any chance you could do a lesson Satriani’s Ten Words?

    Thanks!
    Gary
