Madhouse Guitar Lesson – Anthrax

In this Madhouse guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this awesome 80's metal masterpiece from Anthrax note-for-note.

The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.

There are some challenging riffs in this one. The tempo is quite fast and you will find the riffs incorporate fast shifting, string skipping, trills and legato licks throughout the song. "Madhouse" is certainly a great metal rhythm guitar workout by Scott Ian and Dan Spitz.

I will also cover Dan's solo note-for-note. Once again we have quite a challenge here with everything from fast alternate picking licks to awkward string skipping.

Have fun learning this thrash metal classic! Carl...

Hey Carl, thanks for the extra work on the solo! I’ve always thought Dan Spitz was underrated. What mode(s) or scales or whatever produce that exotic sound? Sounds Middle Eastern to me – very cool. I think Marty Friedman sometimes uses something similar. Thanks
