In these Manhattan guitar lesson videos we will take a look at Eric Johnson's classic instrumental "Manhattan".
This particular song is off of Eric Johnson's Venus Isle album released in 1996.
Eric Johnson has long been known as the guitarists guitarist. He seems to be able to seamlessly jump from one style to the next while demonstrating absolute mastery of each.
When you combine his deep knowledge of all of those musical styles he has assimilated with his total technical command of the instrument you have this song as the result. Oh and the guy can write a tune with the best of them. Yep, we should all just boycott him now. LOL
This song has always been a favorite of most Eric Johnson fans because it incorporates so many different techniques that make up Eric Johnson's style.
We have nice Wes Montgomery style octave lines, large chord forms, harp harmonics and of course some absolutely burning solo lines. This song is a great study in dynamics as well.
With these video lessons you will learn every note in a very gradual way. There are nine videos total encompassing over an hour's worth of instruction. That is what is takes to do this great song justice. Enjoy!!
